High Country Accounting and Tax Services, LLC is owned by Seth Goldstein. Seth graduated from Indiana University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. After spending a summer seeing America while riding a bicycle from Seattle, WA to Washington, DC, he began his career in northern New Jersey where he was raised. He worked for a firm specializing in small businesses and taxes. Instead of joining a Big 4 (at the time, Big 6) firm and spending his time auditing accounts receivable at a Fortune 500 company, he wanted to see the big picture of a business and work directly with the decision-makers of his clients. During this time, he passed the CPA exam (on the first try!) and obtained his license as a CPA.After spending several tax seasons being planted at his desk using a desktop computer, Seth returned to school for his MBA degree. As Seth gained interest in technology during the dot-com boom, he selected Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA as it is a leading engineering school. After graduation, Seth went to work for several large corporations including SAS Institute, Fannie Mae and AOL, working on financial system projects.
In 2005 while working for AOL as a financial systems manager, Seth moved to Colorado with his family and has resided in Evergreen, CO ever since. For nearly 12 years, Seth worked remotely for AOL. Realizing that with wi-fi for his laptop and cell phone signal, he could work anywhere and did – working in such diverse places as a train station in Munich, Germany, a beach in St. Maarten and from Lunch Rock at the top of Winter Park ski resort (while wearing ski boots)!
During this time, Seth began to formulate a plan to start his own office-less public accounting business. High Country Accounting and Tax Services, LLC was established in early 2018. The firm’s interest is in helping small business owners focus on running their business while High Country can provide necessary accounting and tax services. The firm also provides individual income tax services as well.
